This presentation promotes abstinence as a very positive choice and discusses the many mental/emotional, social, financial as well as the physical consequences if they choose not to practice abstinence. The powerful influence of hormones as well as alcohol and drugs on your mind are also addressed. Participants all can take an opportunity to take a “paperclip” and are invited to wear it to remind themselves as well as others of their choice!



#2 Topic:
LIVIN' LIFE WHEN YOU'RE FEELING DOWN! - Coping With Depression

TARGET AUDIENCE: M.S/H.S/Adult
LENGTH: 1 - 1 ½ HOURS

This presentation focuses on not only the signs/symptoms of severe depression but also many practical techniques of coping with it. Also, strategies are discussed on how to confront someone who is depressed and/or suicidal in a non-judgmental and non-threatening way.



#4 Topic:
THE CARE-FRONTATION SKILL - What to do when you are very concerned about someone close to you

TARGET AUDIENCE: Upper elementary/ Middle School / High School
LENGTH: 1 Hr.

This presentation addresses a specific life skill that a person can use to confront someone who they are very concerned about in a caring, concerned and non-judgmental way. A practice session for the participants is included in this presentation.




#5 Topic:
HOW TO SAY NO.... and Still Keep Your Friends, Stay Out of Trouble and yet, Still Have Fun!

TARGET AUDIENCE: Upper elementary/ Middle School / High School
LENGTH: 1 Hr.

This presentation addresses a refusal skill that teens need in tough situations where it may be difficult to refuse. Role plays are used to demonstrate some of the techniques while they also get some time to practice the skill with each other. The methods addressed allow them not only to say no but still keep their friends, have fun, stay out of trouble while staying in control! Students learn that they need to KNOW how to say NO!



#6 Topic:
YOU’RE the BEST....Realize......”You Rock!

TARGET AUDIENCE: Upper Elementary / Middle School
LENGTH: 1 Hr.

This presentation focuses on the critical importance of a good self-esteem. A discussion of techniques to raise your own self-esteem is shared as well as how to assist others with building their self-concepts!




#7 Topic:
SUICIDE IS A PERMANENT SOLUTION to a TEMPORARY PROBLEM!

TARGET AUDIENCE: M.S./ H.S./ Adults
LENGTH: 1.5 Hrs.

This presentation initially focuses on the sad facts/statistics regarding teen suicide. It also addresses the sign/symptoms of teen suicide. In addition, Tom addresses how one can respond in a caring, non-judgmental way to confront someone who may be severely depressed.



#8 Topic:
HOW WELL ARE YOU?--Looking at your total wellness and beginning to live more “well”.

TARGET AUDIENCE: H.S / Adults
LENGTH: 1-4 Hrs.

This presentation addresses the difference between achieving total wellness vs being physically healthy. A personal responsibility is discussed within the 7 dimensions of wellness. Reducing risk factors is also addressed that would dramatically improves ones “quality” of life.

WHAT’S IMPORTANT IN YOUR LIFE? - Managing your time and setting priorities in your life.....!

TARGET AUDIENCE: H.S. / Adults

This presentation addresses time management in your life. It also addresses efficient ways of managing the time you have personally, professionally and family-wise. A look at the participant’s “normal day” is one activity on the program. A closer look at “workaholism” and “quality” time is also included. Don’t bring your watches!

CHOOSING TO BE MORE WELL----A personal responsibility!

This presentation addresses total wellness vs. just your physical health and discusses specific personal responsibilities one needs to take socially, physically, emotionally and mentally. The assessment of ones wellness can be turned into a workshop day including stress management, time management, personal wellness and personal wellness/self-care planning.

GOAL SETTING AND CREATING YOUR BUCKET LISTS: The How To's for  Creating Hope, Anticipation While Truly Living and Ending Your Life With NO REGRETS!

TARGET AUDIENCE: M.S. / H.S. / Adults
LENGTH: 1-2 Hrs.

This presentation allows the participants a genuine opportunity to closely look at both their short/long-term life goals, identify steps to attain those goals and also identify behaviors that would prevent them reaching them. Tom will discuss the importance of personal, spousal, child, and family bucket lists!  Strategies to achieve your goals and items on your bucket lists will also take place during this presentation.

TEEN EMPOWERMENT--Life skills needed to navigate through life!

This powerful presentation or half-day workshop allows young adults to learn and practice some critically important life skills like communication, listening, confrontation, decision-making, and refusal. The student thus becomes more empowered with the needed skills which immediately allows them to make better choices for themselves as well as have more techniques to help others when in need.

This session walks teens through the ABC’s of self-esteem discussing critical techniques/strategies to keep and maintain a healthy one!



#33 Topic:
ALCOHOL--Your choice-a big chance!

TARGET AUDIENCE: M.S./ H.S.
LENGTH: 1-2 Hrs.

This presentation addresses the consequences of the use/non-use of alcohol and focuses on how big of a decision it actually is and how it will impact their entire life. True life stories are shared that will make students personally think about their impending decision and it’s many consequences.




#36 Topic:
DYING TO BE THIN--Disordered eating; it’s not about food!

TARGET AUDIENCE: M.S. / H.S. / Parents
LENGTH: 1-1.5 Hrs.

This session addresses two syndromes of disordered eating--anorexia nervosa and bulimia. It focuses on how teens get trapped in this life-threatening web of mind-games and eating. Signs/symptoms and reasons teens develop these disorders will be addressed. Also, some do’s and don’ts about dealing with someone who may have a disorder and how to more effectively confront them will all be discussed.

RESOLVING CONFLICT PEACEFULLY - Strategies for students, teachers and parents.

This presentation specifically looks at conflict, what it does to us, and then offers strategies/techniques for teachers and their students. It also addresses how parents can more effectively deal with conflict in their homes. Healthier ways to communicate is a key concept throughout this session.

This presentation will address choices teens are quite often faced with, the risks involved and the many consequences that could occur. A very interactive activity will allows all participants to become actively involved in an activity that will surely stress the concept of choice-making and consequences.. This is a realistic presentation that is guaranteed to really make teens think about the choices they are making and the consequences they need to consider before they make those possible life-altering choices.

This presentation addresses how to begin to accept yourself in many ways so the big life decisions you need to make are a bit easier to make. Looking at your life from the perspective of a rope and feeling fortunate is an important activity facilitated in this presentation.

ASSET-BUILDING - CHOICE-MAKING- AND EMPOWERMENT -- The A.C.E. Plan!

This presentation will share the 40 developmental assets which are the necessary building blocks, traits and characteristics teens need to be happy, healthy, and successful in life. It will also address the key ingredients to making positive and healthy choices and it will share the life skills needed for their true emPOWERment as a teen! DEVELOPING A MISSION STATEMENT FOR YOUR LIFE!

A builder uses a blueprint to build a home. A cook uses a recipe to cook their delicious meals, and NASA has a detailed mission plan for their spacecraft every second that it’s in space. Why wouldn’t we want a plan/mission for our lives? This session allows the participants an opportunity to develop their own mission plan for their life! It’s an opportunity of a life time for everyone! A written statement that will give you a reason to “be”, get up every day and truly LIVE!

This power point presentation addresses the “health” of one’s heart “character-wise”. It discusses the four chambers of the heart that need to be “exercised” to assure the needed character to succeed in life and be a leader. Several relevant true life stories are shared with some video clips that make this session a very emotional and thought-provoking one!

PEER EMPOWERMENT - Exercise Your Power to Lead!

This session can range from 1 - 7 hours depending on the specificity of the peer empowerment skills covered. Adolescent issues, developmental assets and life skills are all addressed so teens begin to understand and acquire the need information and life skills that are CRITICAL to good choice-making. It is my hope, through this training, to truly allow them an opportunity to become more POWERful with the newly acquired information and life skills so they can lead a healthy, happy and successful LIFE!!

This work session allows the participants to look at their life so far, decide on what they’d like in that life and begin making specific choices/decisions for what they want and how they can get it during that life! When finished, the participants will have their own “book” on their goals, plans and choices for their future- a true mission for their life!

This presentation addresses the trials and tribulations of maintaining your faith as a teenager and what to do constructively to deal with them. It also address what baptism really means during these teen years.

THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE TEENS

This presentation addresses the 7 habits of Highly Effective Teens developed by Steven Covey. Practical strategies and examples of how to live by those habits and to become a more effective teen leader are also discussed.



#63 Topic:
CONTRACTING for ACCOUNTABILITY

TARGET AUDIENCE: M.S. / H.S.
LENGTH: 1-2 Hrs.

This session focuses on the impending major decisions that adolescents will be forced to make that could alter their LIFE! After a discussion of facts and statistics the teens will be asked to formulate their decisions and to develop their own life contracts. The accountability factor can “raise the stakes” for those decisions to take place. Several discussions will occur for participants to truly think about their contract they’d like to make for their life. Parents, friends and personal supporters in their lives are then asked to co-sign this contract and aid them in their endeavor!



#66 Topic:
PREPARING FOR A POWERFUL HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

TARGET AUDIENCE: 8th or 9th graders who’ll be attending high school next year!

This workshop allows incoming high school students an opportunity that will allow them the many secret ingredients of a happy, healthy and successful high school experience. It entails loads of pertinent and relevant information, energizers, asset development and the necessary life skills teens need to succeed in high school. Very informative and very interactive! MIDDLE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TRAINING

This training works with middle school students to empower themselves with the needed knowledge, life skills and assets to be an effective leader in their schools and communities. These leaders are ‘“trained” to be “positively powerful” and return to their school with an action plan to help themselves, their schools, classmates, families and their communities.

This presentation addresses practical strategies to effectively cope with loss. Loss can be a death, divorce, broken relationship, etc. The 5 stages of the grieving process are discussed.

ABSTINENCE: THE BEAUTY OF A ROSE!

TARGET AUDIENCE: M.S. / H. S. with or without parents!
LENGTH: 1-1.5 Hrs.

This presentation deals with how alcohol or drugs and sexual activity in relationships “infect” them and set them up for failure and heartache. A discussion of a relationship continuum will take place followed by a sharing of the many other mental, social, financial as well as the physical consequences of “sex” before marriage. Abstinence is given as the number 1 choice to consider to avoid the 27 unwanted consequences discussed. A rose is passed throughout the audience during the presentation & a petal is stripped as each consequence is discussed. Discussion follows as to the “beauty” of the rose & the beauty of an abstinent lifestyle!

This session will share some common warning signs of depression. Whether you are a parent, teacher or friend, this session will offer several strategies as to what you should do and discuss the many things that shouldn’t be done when you are concerned about someone who may be depressed /suicidal.

This presentations allows the participants to look at their present attitude and ask if it’s aiding in their healthy development or not. It allows for a discussion on attitude and several practical techniques to begin shaping the one they want each day! This power point has some excellent video clips to bring home the point that their attitude is a choice THEY need to make daily!

MIRACLE OF LIFE

This interesting presentation is on the wonders of the birth process and how it truly remains a miracle! The process is discussed as we watch a power point with incredible pictures of fetal development from conception to birth! A teen abstinence message is given throughout the presentation.


#103 TOPIC:
MENTOR TRAINING: Developing Connections with Underclassmen

TARGET AUDIENCE: Junior and Seniors in HS or 8th graders in a MS
LENGTH: 4-8 hrs.

This training involves the necessary components that juniors and seniors/or 8th graders in a MS situation need to create mentorships and connections with their intentionally designated underclassmen. The training includes: leadership skills, behaviors of an empowered leader, their role as a mentor, life skills that can be used when mentoring, developmental assets, ways to become more positive, confidence tips, skills for leading groups, ways to build more personal power, all interspersed with a variety of interactive energizers that all have life lessons within them so they can share those lessons as they mentor as well!

LIFE OF AN ATHLETE

TARGET AUDIENCE: MS/HS
LENGTH: 1-1.5 Hrs.

This presentation high-lights some of the research from Mr John Underwood from the American Athletic Institute. The relevant information is for athlete, teens, parents, coaches and/or community personnel. This presentation shares the new and very interesting research on alcohol/drugs and the brain. Related information on sleep, energy drinks, etc. can be included if time allows. To personalize, a 15-20 minute DVD entitled, GABE (interview with a potential HS athlete from prison) can be integrated as well!



#109 TOPIC:
EFFECTS OF TECHNOLOGY ON TODAY’S TEEN SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL MATURITY

TARGET AUDIENCE: Adults/teachers/teens
LENGTH: 1 hr.

This presentation addresses the “problems” / “concerns” that technology has put on teens today directly affecting their social and emotional maturity. The session will share some of the latest research regarding the “addiction” of technology. Practical suggestions for a healthy balance for parents and their teens while using technology will also be discussed.

CARING FOR YOUR PRICELESS BODY: What Are You Doing With Your Gift?

TARGET AUDIENCE: Middle/High students
LENGTH: 45 minutes-1.5 hrs.

This presentation doesn’t blatantly tell teens how to live their life but offers relevant information that will help them SHAPE THEIR OWN LIVES! The session specifically addresses how fortunate they are to have their health. It allows them to consider real hard decisions that have a direct impact on the quality of the rest of their lives. A more intense look at just alcohol and drug use/abuse and the many unknown potential affects are shared with them for consideration in their decision-making processes. This relevant information shared comes from John Underwood, a researcher with the American Athletic Institute. After over 14,000 studies over 20 years, he has shared new results from his research that is critical for all teens, parents, coaches, school administration, law enforcement and community members. The session focuses on looking at their bodies as priceless gifts. Intermittent stories and video clips are used to allow the teen to "feel" the necessary emotions in their hearts as they truly think about the decisions they are making or about to make soon.

BULLYING: A Sometimes Silent but Deadly Weapon!

This presentation focuses on the immediate and long-lasting effects of all types of bullying.  Tom will address what to do if you are a victim, a bystander or the one presently doing the bullying.  He will share some heart-centered stories to force the teen's to seriously stop, think and feel about the entire bullying process.

This session specifically focuses on what respect means for oneself as well as for others.  a variety of thought-provoking quotes will be shared and discussed regarding RESPECT!  Specific strategies on how to gain and maintain respect will also be shared.  Having and utilizing one's life skills also develops respect and those skills will be shared as well! Come and learn that respect isn't ALL about YOU!
